In Deuteronomy 6:6-7, we are encouraged to "Keep God's commands and diligently teach them to our children."   The idea behind the word "diligently" is to "sharpen, prick, or pierce." 

There is the great potential for oneness here within the marriage relationship.  When a wife and a husband are relating to each other in love and godliness there will be an absence of conflict and an abundance or greatness of unity.  When God's people are following Jesus, there will also be oneness with Jesus in terms of our will, our thoughts, and actions.  

In Ephesians 5:26, after husbands are invited to "love their wives as Christ loved the church," we read that  just as Christ sanctifies and sets apart His church, husbands now are invited through their relationship with their wives to also have a sanctifying work in their lives.
