• This week we will look the first two responses of Job after losing everything.  They first response was to surrender in worship.  After losing all of his wealth and children, we read in Job 1:21-22, “Job fell on the ground and worshipped and said, ‘naked I came from my mother’s womb and naked I return, the Lord gave and the Lord has taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord.” 


  • Andrew Murray, a great saint and prayer warrior who ran orphanages in 19th century England wrote a classic book called Humility.  Read his definition, "humility is nothing but the disappearance of self in the vision who God is.”   A few paragraphs later he put it this way, “Humility is the displacement of self by the enthronement and exaltation of God.”


  • Many Americans wrongly believe that the Declaration of Independence signed by 56 patriots on July 4th, 1776, was the pivotal point of victory for the United States of America.  Actually, that in many ways was the beginning of a long drawn out war that didn’t end until six years later.  Declaring something and fighting for something are two different things.
